Letter to Editor

Hi, guys.
Okay, this is old news, but I wanted to share the letter I wrote and that the Press Democrat printed. The story is old, but the sentiment is current. We need to be nicer to each other. From the media, to politicians, and especially to talk-show hosts, we need to be a nicer people.

COLUMN: LET THE PUBLIC SPEAK

EDITOR: In keeping in the spirit of shopping, I have a list of ``I wants''

involving the man trampled to death by a crowd of shoppers at a Wal-Mart

store:

* I want it not to have happened in our country, my state, our town ...

this world.

* I want the shoppers who did this to be sorry.

* I want not to believe that folks could kill a person because they were

eager to get a good deal on a TV, a set of sheets, some toys.

* I want no one to wait all night to buy stuff.

* I want everyone to care that this happened, to feel grief that a computer

game can be more important than a life.

* I want my family to skip holiday gifts this year, to give a donation to

the Gospel Mission instead -- and we are.

* I am going to send a donation to the Salvation Army in lieu of the usual

candy I send to my corporate clients. I want them to understand -- and am

proud that they will.

* I want us to each find a way to honor the man who died, by each of us

doing something good for someone else.

* I want us to be the kind, giving, caring people for which our nation is

noted.

* I want it never to happen again.

Any Minute Now!

This is my first post to new blog.

My first novel, Touch of Magenta, will be ready on Amazon by May 1 - oh, please; oh, please!

In the meantime, had great time Zipping in Hawaii with my sisters and friend. Let me put it this way: Do you have a desire to step off a 300 foot cliff, then careen across a ravine for 1000 feet? No? Try it sometime! What a thrill! I'll post a pix soon.

Hope those who live nearby will come to my Book Signing event (see website for details: http://www.lindalovelandreid.com/) to help make a crowd for the book launch. It is frightening to know that soon my effort as an author will be out there for everyone to judge. I look forward to it in some macabre way. Perhaps, anyone who engages in activities that invite critique, are masochists at heart.

You can read excerpts on the website. Comments are welcomed.

Know any book clubs located in Northern California area? I live in Sonoma County. Napa and Notato will work too. Please forward contacts to my email (lindalovelandreid@sbcglobal.net). It is my intention to visit in person, as many book clubs that will have me.

Do you know a blogger who wants to review fiction? How about you? Any reader is a reviewer.

Live 'til you tilt!
